The Moon Crown

The world is changing, bit by bit. Beasts and entities are integrated into the civilization of the new country. There are signs of something young, yet somehow ancient, growing on the other side of the river.Lou and her companions are on the run. She begins to send out broadcasts in hopes of reaching an audience with the truth of what really happened to get her here - and with a warning of what is coming.Unfortunately, the listener she reaches might not be the kind of person she's hoping to find.

The Show
Lou, a transcriber-in-training at her local branch of The Academy, is on the run after discovering something that could change the world around her.As Lou broadcasts the details leading up to herself and her comrades fleeing Gods' Peak, unnerving events ramp up in frequency. Letters arrive from an unknown sender, and a listener's persistence in communicating with Lou becomes hard to ignore. Her companions are increasingly confused by her lapses in memory, the listener's messages, and Lou's overall behavior. The reality these outcasts live in seems to shift around them, with beasts and entities acting erratically, time oddities, and their questionable perceptions.
The Production
This is a story built on Filipino folklore. Its main themes involve cosmic and psychological horror, and at its core, it's a love letter to reality-bending media from Westword, to Ubik, to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.M. Molder (they/them) adapted The Moon Crown from a novella that started brewing in 2013. It initially follows Lou's journey in a found-tapes format, while the cast number and time spent in the present-day story increases with each episode. You can find more about the cast and crew here on the site.Season one will include 10 episodes, but is still in production. M. writes, directs, edits, acts in, and markets the show themself, while working a full-time job, so the timing of releases is sporadic. The topics in this show are meant for adult audiences, and each episode's show notes include a set of content warnings. Additional, in-depth content warnings fore the entire show can be found on this site.
